Jack and Bob Ingham's Woodlands Stud has provided thousands of winners across Australia but at Rosehill yesterday the world-renowned stud cheered home a winner of a different kind.
Rather than the Inghams' famous cerise livery greeting the judge, new colours from the same stud found the winner's circle.
Three-year-old filly Shand is raced by a group of Woodlands employees, headed by manager Peter Flynn, and led throughout to win the Toyota Finance Handicap (1200m). Shand is by Woodlands-based sire Quest For Fame out of the Clear Choice mare Camille, who is owned by Flynn.
Other owners include Darryl Atkins, father of Shand's trainer Phillip Atkins, and the stud's stallion manager Nicki Cramsie, Doug Selby, the farm's manager, and Roger Neal, who is in charge of feeding. Flynn bred Shand, who yesterday took her record to four wins from eight starts.
Jack Ingham was chuffed at his staff's success but on seeing the happy group of owners joked: ``Geez, who's looking after the farm."
Flynn said that Shand's dam Camille was the victim of a barrier accident which restricted her racing career to only four starts.
