A PERFECT ride on Cerise 'n' Black by KEVIN MOSES landed some heavy wagers in the Peter Lawson Handicap (1,200m) at Randwick yesterday.
A big firmer, Cerise 'n' Black's opening price of 9-2 was slashed to 3-1 when the money came.
Starting favourite, the filly was travelling fourth, one off the fence, with Moses biding his time.
Shortly after topping the rise, Moses urged his mount along. She responded, drawing away to score a convincing two-length win.
Winning trainer John Hawkes said Cerise 'n' Black had been "the victim of circumstances" at her two previous runs and yesterday's victory proved his point.
The topweight, Sound Of Laughter, "failed to dash in the straight"according to RODNEY QUINN.
Sound Of Laughter travelled inside Cerise 'n' Black and, although no match for the winner, fought on strongly to snatch second place and no doubt will be improved by the run.
The Brian Guy-trained Allegany was a further half-head away, third.
The Jack Denham-trained Vainway, who eased in the market to start 13-4, travelled poorly and compounded to finish ninth.
